All families struggle to get along at times. There are no "perfect" families and we all face the pressures of daily living. When issues come up in a family and the solution seems hard to find, when no one is "listening" to you and it's a struggle to be heard, or when fighting (or avoidance) seems to occur all to often, turning to an experienced family therapist may be just what is needed. Family therapy involves the whole family, or several members of the family, in each therapy session. Family relationships are explored, and conversation is skillfully and thoughtfully guided by a therapist. Everyone has a chance to be heard and no one becomes the "scapegoat" for all the family's issues. All are able to experience the therapist firsthand, which allows everyone in the family to consider what needs to change and to be equipped with the skills needed to create that change.
